Mr and Mrs Poole required laminate flooring for their newly built extension. They had built on to the rear of their home to change the aspect of their main living space and bring the garden into their home. Whilst durability and function were important to them, the feeling of connectedness was paramount. In addition, we needed to address the Pooles concern regarding heat loss in winter.
After fully understanding the brief, we suggested a wet area laminate. Crucially the rubber strips between the boards imitated the expansion gaps in the decking, giving a connection between inside and outside. When the bi fold doors are open, the deck becomes an outdoor dining space which retains an association with the living space inside. Installation on top of Timbermate underlay improved both thermal efficiency in cooler months and acoustic performance overall.INSTALLATION BRIEF
"We chose Woodwards because we felt that they really understood what we wanted to achieve. The extension was the result of some really hard saving, so getting the final touches right was so important to us. Looking back, what stands out is that they listened to us, which we found is quite rare! We are over the moon with the finished floor, it just makes the space feel complete."
